Has anyone got an Everhot electric cooker?

I want to switch away from our old converted oil-fired Aga, which is very expensive to run, and have heard good things about the Everhot, which is similar but electric (and more energy efficient than an electric Aga I think). But does anyone actually have one, and would you recommend it?

This is a good forum to peruse for user feedback. I looked at one recently, I loved it in principle (relatively economical to run, and programmable) but I'm not keen on the big square lids , which are also meant to scratch easily.

We have one and it is excellent. I would certainly recommend it.
Fantastic customer service as well.

Yes, have had a 100i for 4 years. Love it. Also love the big lids as I keep a cover on the top and have not had to iron a pair of jeans in years.

Do the lids scratch easily?

Any drawbacks?

How much do you think it costs to run?

What's the background heat like?

Do the hot plates retain heat if open for more than 5 minutes?

My lids don't scratch but they are always covered - I use a bath towel in suitable colour but some people have cloth covers that lift with the lids.

Don't know about costs but elec bill probably went up about the same as I reduced oil costs - kitchen cosy so didn't switch heating on so much.

Info says it gives out approx. 0.5 kw/hr and I think that's probably about right.

Unlike Aga it never needs servicing. Also v v easy to switch off when weather hot and you are into salads and bbq. My friend with an aga boils in her kitchen because such a faff to switch it off.

Disadvantage - we now have a work surface next to EH and in cold weather the cats sleep on top of EH - not good when clean jeans pressing on top!

My brother calls it my Harley Davidson - ie a mid-life luxury. I don't care!

We looked at them and I loved them but the cost was prohibitive. Both in terms of initial outlay and running costs. I would love one but with electricity prices the way they are we went with a normal induction range cooker and a separate wood burner instead.

We have the stoves induction range 1000Ei. Its a lovely looking range although more modern looking than an Aga.

I did love the everhots but the thought of the bills was scary!

It's worth checking your bills overall, including what you use for heating as you'll use much less heat if you have an Everhot, especially if you have thermostats on the radiator. The Everhot uses about 85kw per week, if in Eco mode where it turns down low at night. You can improve on this if you turn it down earlier, and you can also turn it down in the middle of the day as it has two autoset periods. In spring and autumn you can turn your central heating off earlier or on later in the year as you've still got some background warmth. For anyone with solar panels ( like me) it trickle charges during the day. In a recent power cut, mine was still at 197 degrees instead of 200 an hour and a half after the cut. So you need to look at the larger pic.

Our 100i was delivered last month. It has a hot plate plus simmer plate on the left and a halogen hob on the right. It draws 600w if set on factory settings plus extra when using the commercial grill and commercial halogen hob.
Our house is a barn conversion with high ceiling and exposed beams, the kitchen is a fair size and the radiator is slightly under powered. Before the Everhot arrived the kitchen was chilly, we are using the Everhot on factory settings, the kitchen is warm as toast.

The manual states running costs at factory settings should be around £12 per week, our running costs will be much less because we have solar panels.

There are no servicing costs, I love using the everhot. I am over the moon with the size of the ovens and the taste of the food. I have disposed of my electric kettle and disposed of my Dualit toaster, I could almost dispose of my iron.

I grew up with Aga and Rayburn (both solid fuel) at my aunts. In my last home I ran a gas aga for 34 years. Wonderful as it heated water as well as kitchen and lounge next door. But very expensive. Now elderly I have an Everhot 90plus It warms the kitchen and the dog, dries clothes on the overhead airet and on towel rail and lids.

baked potatoes and roasts in top oven. Bottom oven for casseroles and rice puds. Also Christmas cake overnight.
on eco it’s cheaper than any aga. Though it took me a while as Agas are hottest at top while everhot is at bottom of top oven. The grill is wonderful. and of course it’s great to have the extra heat in a cold kitchen. Thumbs up from me Oh yes, lids do scratch
