How to remove biro from vinyl flooring?

CatAmongThePigeons · 18/10/2013 11:00

he got hold of a biro and has drawn over the vinyl flooring in the kitchen, how can I get rid of it all?

The floor is 'textured' slightly too if that makes a difference?

And also from textured leather sofas.

Nail varnish remover? I havnt tried it but I imagine it would work (test on inconspicuous area first though!!)

Hairspray works on leather - spray on, leave for 20 seconds or so, and wipe off - so it may work on vinyl? Offers same advice as Herecomes.....

Neat Dettol supposedly!

Try some cheap and nasty 'baby' wipes, They are an essential part of my cleaning arsenal, though I stopped using them on the dc's backsides after I'd used them to get wax crayon and felt-tip marker stains of the laminate floor! Hmm

I second wet wipes they are scaring good at removing most things.
Or try magic erasers, they worked for us with permanent market on plastic or i've heard hand sanitiser works.
I would try the least conspicuous area first

Nail varnish remover or scrub with Cream cleanser & a scourer.

WD40 is good. I've used it to remove scuff marks from paintwork.

FacebookWanker · 20/10/2013 09:32

WD40 is great...it has loads of good uses.you can put it on plant pots to stop slugs getting to you plants...

CMOTDibbler · 20/10/2013 09:35

Hairspray is amazing at lifting biro

CatAmongThePigeons · 20/10/2013 10:44

Would WD40 make the floor slippery? For a textured vinyl its slippery when wet. I think I'll try hairspray first (yes, I have been slovenly and left it for days) Blush thanks again

WD40. You may need to wash the floor with detergent after to remove the WD40 to stop it being slippy. I wouldn't try nail varnish remover unless you try it on a waste piece of vinyl first as it might "melt" the surface.

Lakeland Sticky Stuff remover is worth a try - it is cheap and find it works on all sorts of stains not just sticky marks.
