I never know how often I should do these things!

How often do you:

Change the sheets?
Wash the towels?
Hoover?
Clean the loo?
Mop the floor?

TIA!

Change the sheets? About every week (they need changing now tbh)
Wash the towels? Every few days
Hoover? Mainly wood floors but sweep them every day.
Clean the loo? Every other day.
Mop the floor? Once a week.

Consider myself houseproud atm.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 08/07/2006 09:26

I am in the 'can't answer cause you lot will think I'm minging' club.
I am seriously no good at this keeping house thing.
One question: does the dog licking up spills on the floor count as cleaning it?

nappyaddict · 04/12/2007 14:19

Change sheets - fortnightly
Wash towels - weekly
Hoover - fortnightly upstairs, weekly downstairs
Clean the loo - weekly
Mop the floor - weekly

haha I have stumbled onto a good housekeeping thread, I will just horrify you all then disappear..

Change the sheets? god knows, probably monthly
Wash the towels? maybe weekly, no more often
Hoover? downstairs probably 5 times a week(due to dog hair), upstairs, umm a few times a year I guess
Clean the loo? every few weeks
Mop the floor? it was laid in 2002 and I think I have probably done it about 10 times.

nappyaddict · 15/01/2008 19:02

ZippiBabes · 15/01/2008 19:04

sheets depends who is sleeping in my bed

ZippiBabes · 15/01/2008 19:05

hoover hardly ever but i don't have any carpets..wjoops yes i do in the bedrooms, but i'd foroten i had them usually not much visible carpet

ivykaty44 · 15/01/2008 19:09

twice a year whether it needs doing or not

MrsMopple · 15/01/2008 19:09

Sheets - usually once a week
Towels - when needed (couldn't afford to / don't feel the need to do daily)
Hoover - try to do daily
Loo - rarely other than when needed
Mop floor - don;t have any that are moppable

Friend reckons that hoovering is to housework what mowing the lawn is to gardening, and loos are ALWAYS cleaned if we are expecting guests!

pirategirl · 15/01/2008 19:12

my sis commented on how tidy the kitchen looked yesreday. I siad well theonly ting i have done is mop the helout of the (beige) lino.

I think it was the refraction of light onto the rest of the room or something!!

snottyshoulders · 15/01/2008 19:15

How often do your dh's or dp's do any of the mentioned.
Mine never....!

Lauriefairycake · 15/01/2008 19:16

lizziemun · 15/01/2008 20:17

How often do you:

Change the sheets? Our bed every week dd's every couple week.

Wash the towels? 3 times a weeks when i do the washing.

Hoover? Every other day.

Clean the loo? every day

Mop the floor? Use floor wipes every day.

Scramble · 16/01/2008 00:02

Change the sheets? In theory once every 3 weeks, should be done in rotation, in reality a lot less.

Wash the towels? After a few uses.

Hoover? Once a week, but brush around downstairs everyday.

Clean the loo? Everyday it gets a wipe around, thorough clean once a week.

Mop the floor? Never mopped, but kitchen floor squooshed and wiped when needed and rest of ground floor wiped when needed, ie when it shows .

Joash · 16/01/2008 00:06

Change the sheets - at least weekly
Wash the towels - after every use
Hoover - everyday (sometimes more than once, twice ... in fact sometimes more if friends have been with their DC's)
Clean the loo - at least everyday
Mop the floor - at least everyday

gibberish · 16/01/2008 00:10

Change the sheets - weekly
Wash the towels - daily
Hoover - daily or twice daily
Clean the loo - daily
Mop the floor - twice a week or more if needs doing

unknownrebelbang · 16/01/2008 00:12

Change the sheets? DH does this about once a fortnight, with the boys' beds being changed the week inbetween.

Wash the towels? As and when needed.

Hoover? DH or the boys tend to do this, as required.

Clean the loo? Hmm, not as often as they should be, particularly the main bathroom, as I rarely use it, and male eyes just do not see, iykwim.

Mop the floor? DH or DS1 usually do it as required, but they have to be prodded.

IorekByrnison · 16/01/2008 00:15

I hoover so infrequently that when I do it frightens the life out of both dd and the cat.

(We only have one carpet though)

Glad you asked though. And interesting about dh/dp contributions. Mine, I realise never does any of these five things - and I'd thought we shared the housework fairly well.

expatinscotland · 16/01/2008 00:15

sheets - once a week
towels - as needed
hoover - every other day

mop - once a week
