collect 100 pennies and you'll have a pound

brimfull · 30/06/2006 21:25

i keep a tub for pennies and two pences and five pences and throw them in as i dont like them.
i take them to a machine in sainsburys that turns them into real money

waterfalls · 30/06/2006 21:44

I often put coppers in the bin too.

northender · 30/06/2006 21:56

Those bloody machines at Sainsbury's charge you for counting your coppers though!

TooTicky · 30/06/2006 21:58

Oh, I couldn't throw away money. Or stones.

southeastastra · 30/06/2006 21:59

i pick them up, put them in a pot, and the kids sort them out, it makes about £20 worthwile job for a 12 year old

expatinscotland · 30/06/2006 22:00

you better believe it!

if you saw a pound coin instead of a penny, would you bin it? cuz that's what you're doing, throwing away money.

i save coppers in an old coffee can and the bank counts 'em up for free.

i started dd1's saving accounts w/£10 i'd got from saving coppers.

bubblerock · 30/06/2006 22:00

I can't throw pennies away either.

Oblomov · 30/06/2006 22:01

We have a huge whisky bottle thing, that all change goes it.
Counted once a year or so.
Ds LOVES it and when I give him a couple of coppers to put in his money box, that 'nanny seaside' bought him, he puts them in the whisky bottle !
Little sweetie.

BettySpaghetti · 30/06/2006 22:01

My Gran used to say;

See a penny, pick it up
All day long you have good luck

(You would never find money on the floor in our house though as DD has radar that detects any money that you take your eye off for a split second and puts it in her money box )

brimfull · 30/06/2006 22:48

suppose I should get myself a jar to collect all the stray coppers...take myself on holiday ...in twenty years time

NannyL · 01/07/2006 14:39

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2006 14:39

mrsbang · 01/07/2006 14:43

Pick it up - would be used for the coppertrail at school in a couple of weeks, lol.

BadHair · 01/07/2006 14:51

Yes then I give it to whichever child is nearest and tell them to put it in their money box.

DevilsAdvocado · 01/07/2006 15:46
