Everything I use makes it streaky.

I have tried;

Wul and an e cloth
Damp e cloth
Astonish stainless steel cleaner.

What works? Apart from taking it down and getting a nice piece of granite/marble put there instead?

Tiny bit of olive oil. Buff with kitchen roll.

baby oil is good for stainless steel

I use method stainless steel cleaner. Looks fine.

Oil is the way forward. But make sure you are buffing in the direction of any design marks on the splash back - mine has horizontal lines running across it and needs to be wiped/polished horizontally too.

perhaps you are getting water marks from lime in the water.

You can polish ss sinks by rubbing them with a damp cotton cloth. Not wet enough to leave water behind. You will have to rub hard at first. Oil will shine up the surface but not remove scale.

We only bought the house at the end of August, it's a new-build, a water softener is on my wish list though.

Excellent.

I always used wd40 on stainless steel. Brilliant stuff. My aunt swears by baby oil though.

What did you use?

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2013 20:06

Baby oil on a dry muslin.
