British Gas Homecare 400 VS. Npower Homeserve Cover 8

Hello all
I am looking to change my home emergency cover from British Gas to Npower as BG are trying to charge me almost £40 a month for the cover even though I have been with them over 10 years.

I have got a quote from Npower for £19.50 a month for the same level of cover!

Have you got Homerve Cover 8? How are you finding the service?

The difference is unusually large,

Is one quote for "whole system" and one for "boiler only?" Is there a £50 or £100 excess?

Usually, if you put your £x a month under the bed, paying a reliable local independent when necessary will work out cheaper than shovelling money into a service contract.
