how can I fix my filthy oven?!

just moved in (hurrah) but the house was filthy. top clean but bottom filth. I'm on top of most of it but I'm totally stuck with the oven. it is greasy, burnt on stains on the bottom and the roof is studded with layer upon layer of filth. I've tried a tray of vinegar and water, heating and scrubbing, and,the oven's self clean (it is a Neff one(. are chemicals the only answer? help!
(even the oven in student halls wasn't this bad)

there are companies who clean ovens.
not too expensive either. if you google oven cleaner + postcode and many come up.

Definitely get a man in Grin

HaroldLloyd · 28/09/2013 21:21

I get the men to do it and they come out like new, amazing.

If you keep an eye on groupon they periodically do a deal.

www.ovenu.co.uk

I second Ovenu, they are amazing. They' ll make your oven look like new.

Or try oven mate (lakeland) brush it on, leave for 3 hrs wipe. If needed repeat. Is chemical, but has zero odour. And no scrubbing required. Grin

thank you all. I'm inclined to try Lakeland first, feel cross about potentially spending a fair bit to get someone to do it when I didn't even make the mess in the first place!

I used the Lakeland 'oven mate' today. It is fab. It doesn't have a chemical smell and really works.

I can see thru my oven door for the first time in ages. It was minimal effort. I brushed it on, left it for a few hours and wiped it off.

Betty5313 · 29/09/2013 20:10

now I'm wavering! probably a silly question, but how do they do it outside? the oven is hardwired in. time to get a quote.

They take the doors off and all moving parts then put them in their van while cleaning the rest.

I'm getting my oven and hob done tomorrow. Cannot wait!!

difficultpickle · 29/09/2013 20:15

If it is a standard Neff oven then everything comes apart and you can take doors, liners off to clean. I had the same problem when I moved in. The oven smelt as if it had done a thousand roast dinners and had never been cleaned. It took me an entire weekend to clean but wasn't hard to do.

Betty5313 · 29/09/2013 21:10

the removeable parts aren't actually too bad, it is the roof and floor of the oven which are terrible. one good thing, I always used to think I was hopeless at house keeping stuff and the state of this house makes me feel a lot better about myself!

Hiya hun, oven pride is amazing, it's only 2.99 and leaves your oven looking like new.
