Not really but thought it would get you over here.

Can I put caustic soda down it??
I can't find anything specifically for it yet I used to be able to I'm sure.

Nowt sinister-just the baby going mad with the bog roll.

Yes BOT.
My elementary education allowed me to acquire a basic understanding of the principles of a vacuum, merely unsure as to how a plastic bag can act as one.

Also with plunger how does one get sufficient purchase on vitreous enamel in order to make and maintain said vacuum.

Coke?????
Christ,if it unblocks a bog, what the hell does it do to you colon????!!

I'll try it all, can't be anywhere near as bad as the time dh kicked human shit into my face in Turkey (unintentionally hasten to add)
Speaking of dh...why isn't he ever bloody here when these things happen???

Sal,he's not home for another four weeks!!
When he does come,I do collapse in a heap though and say 'You take over.I'm f*cking knackered'
This is the downstairs one.
There are two more upstairs but I have grown accustomed to life's little luxuries.

'One Shot' about £6 from B&Q. Fab stuff, 1/2 bottle will just eat through an entire roll of paper.

anorak · 26/06/2006 18:09

Yes, speaking as a former property manager for over ten years, One Shot is the answer.

Wear gloves and goggles and do not breathe the fumes.

moondog · 26/06/2006 18:12

Sal..I may try it!

My B&Q hadn't that today (or any other independents which i visited before heading for the sheds)

Will try again tomorrow though on wasteland that is industrial estate.A scary place.Lots of blokes in boiler suits and burger vans.

MD - oh ye of little faith! It works honestly (or perhaps I have the knack having done it a few times). Perhaps I could patent a bag for the job and make myself a fortune. Better than chemicals I think.

Yoyo,I will try your method first (after vodka snorter when kids have retired)
Am builing up hierarchy of Action Plans.

If it is just loo paper, what I do (and yes, this does happen with boring regularity in our house too!) is get a wire hanger, bend it to make it as long as possible and use the hook end to hook out the paper. Paper and hanger go straight into a plastic bag and get thrown in the outside bin. Hey presto, blockage cleared and no need even for the rubber gloves.

moondog · 27/06/2006 17:03

Oh feck.Went to heavy duty plumbers' place today and he sold me something called 'Dam Busters' (lol) which didn't work.

Tried ggg's Coke trick last night but nuttin' doing. It was Diet Coke however......

Right, tonight will try the bloody plunger/placcy bag method.
