Slugs - I could cry!!

Yes, I have seen threads about this before so I know I am not alone - slugs in my living room!

I like my house but it is in a bad state of repair - waiting for a renovation when I have the money - and so the slugs are not just horrid but also a reminder of the damp that attracts them in the first place. There are no obvious big gaps but they must be squeezing in somehow - or - gasp - breeding somewhere under the floor boards!! In the morning all I can see is a slimy trail on the rug. Can't see the slime where the rug ends so no way of tracing their entry point...

Anyone else had that problem? It's making me depressed. I wish I had a lovely new home with no damp and wildlife sharing it...

Eww! Not had the problem myself but one of my friends does so you arent the only one if that makes you feel any better? And her house is beautiful and not in need of any work and the little bastards slime their way in anyway through goodness knows where.

I've woken up a few times over the past month to slug trails on the rug. But no slug trails anywhere else. It's a bit of a mystery. The house is relatively nice and no obvious gaps!

No idea what to suggest but you're definitely not alone!

Thanks ladies, you have made me feel better!
It just always seems to be something - slugs or ants or flies... I hate the thought of them coming out at night and crawling around. Sigh...

Sorry for this then... We once found one inside the dishwasher and another inside the cupboard sitting on top of a pile of plates. You will of course know if they've been there because of the trails.

If it helps (and I'm only saying this because the thread is in Good Housekeeping) your housekeeping has nothing to do with it. (It could have in ours, but our pristine neighbours were also afflicted...)

Make sure air bricks etc are all clear. Don't keep dried rabbit food in your house.

I have no other tips. We moved...

The only way we stopped them as by buying a huge bag of table salt and literally going round the perimeter of the house sprinkling a thick band of salt about an inch from the walls. House is terraced so front, passage, round the back. I felt like I was doing a weird spell but it worked! Slug pellets didnt shift the fuckers.
