Went for the morphs Richards one after lots of research (no horror stories please). Can't wait for it to come - am already planning what to steam first!

I want one to make my life easier OH says 'what's wrong with a cloth and hot soapy water?'

Alwayscheerful · 21/09/2013 07:18

I have the Morphy Richards one, it was on offer at Makro. I love it.

I am jealous.

Kara, get one, technically it is a power tool, so he can't complain and will probably want to have a go if he's anything like my OH

are they any good on upholstery? My nephew said our sofa smelt of dog Blush

Mine has arrived. Given that my floors were mopped only yesterday,I was pretty surprised to see that the cloth was filthy after I did them. Was also impressed that marks on the floor were removed.

But, nothing amazing with the oven, grouting etc. disappointed. I think it would be good to keep a clean house sparkling, but it didn't do anything special.

I think I'll be able to do away with my mop and bucket, and it will be quicker, easier and more hygienic, but nothing more than that.

Though i guess i need to do upholstery next before I give a final verdict!

I tend to agree hermione, keeps the floor immaculate without sloshing a wet mop around and drying time is minimal but not impressive for anything else, the small nozzle on mine tends to swivel and I have abondoned cleaning the grout between tiles.

I got the x5 last week - not hugely impressed. Tried it on the windows and they're scarmy - what am i doing wrong??

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/09/2013 12:36

I got myself a Vax steamer recently - it's not a stick mop one, but more like those cylinder vacuums - the steam is made in a thing you tow around the floor, and the mop is on a long pole. So far, it has done a pretty good job of the 'orrible grouting in our ensuite (black filth that nothing else would shift) - it hasn't made it immaculate, but it is so much better than it was.

It also did a reasonably good job on the oven door, but was less use in the oven itself - though that probably has more to do with how long it was since I last cleaned the oven. Blush

It does do a good job on the hard floors, but I haven't had a chance to try it on the carpets yet - what good does it actually do them, can I ask? Does it make them cleaner, or just fluff them up again?

THE WINDOW STICKERS ARE GONE!!!!

They've been on the patio doors for 4 years since the things were installed, and I thought I have tried EVERYTHING but the steam mop has dispatched them effortlessly.

This alone was worth the price.

I am disproportionately happy about this.

Did curtains (worrying amount of grime came off....), sofas and rugs today. Floors are sparkling. Even DP noticed!

I am loving it!

Don't think I'm using mine properly - loving your enthusiasm though, makes me want to give it another go!
