Grease stain on wooden board

Don't know if anyone an help but DH stacked some cupcakes on a nice wooden platter of mine (quite pale wood, Ash maybe) and they have left round little grease stains.

I've scrubbed with Fairy but they are still very visible. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can get rid of them? Preferable without spending a lot on some product I won't use again?

Random guess because I don't know if it would work with the type of wood your platter is made of and I don't know how much it would cost but could you oil the platter? Not with olive oil. You can get kitchen wood oil from Amazon for under a tenner, use sparingly and apply with a soft clean cloth.

I do this all the time with our wooden chopping boards (DH is a butcher and won't have plastic boards). I find Fairy and hot water does the trick but it can take a few goes.
