White Board Marker Pen Removal.... Any Ideas?

DD has black white board marker pen marks all over her school uniform (sweatshirt). I've been searching and a thread back in 2009 said Dylon Stain Remover for Greasy Stains worked but I think it's been discontinued.

Anyone with any clever ideas? I've tried hairspray but the sweatshirt was already wet (initially tried hot water and bio washing liquid) and it had no effect at all (supposedly the alcohol in it works).

I've tried everything and couldn't get it out. It lasted a year on a white polo with at least one wash per week! It is still there.

Thanks Peachypips... maybe someone will have a genius idea for us both...!

Vodka works well on a fresh mark. Still worth trying now, even though you've already tried other treatments.

Hairspray works on biro marks.

On fresh marks Dr Beckmans ink and pen stain remover, once washed I've never found anything that has worked.

Dry wipe markers are the bane of my life! My ds came home covered in it last year ... It's still there I have tried EVERYTHING! Ended up buying new shirts etc.. And getting a few like-minded mums to moan about their use with me to the head....they now use washable versions which are miles better and come off with no fuss Smile

Has anyone tried menthylated spirit? Don't want to go out and buy it if it's a waste of money and effort! I'd rather buy the stain devil mentioned by Random. I've no vodka... don't think the dregs of a bottle of pimms would work!

BTW hot water is usually the worst thing to use on stains as heat sets most stains.

I've tried white spirit, as it's cheaper than vodka and has a higher alcohol content. it dispersed the ink, but made the stain worse. I think perhaps because of the added castor oil in white spirit. Meths might work, I'd be worried about the added dye, but as th sweater is probably ruined anyway you might as well try.

Sorry, not white spirit, surgical spirit.

Do you have white spirit? You could try it.

It's an alcohol based pen. Try isopropyl alcohol to loosen it, then wash in something powerful like Vanish for good measure.

IPA
