Soda crystals in dishwasher

I accidentaly put soda crystals into the dishwasher instead of salt.
Will it make any difference ?

We live in a hard water area.

I suppose I just need to run the dishwasher a few times and it will wash through?

I was going to post exactly this as Dh has apparently been putting soda crystals in for about a month. He thought it was salt apparently.........

if it went in the salt vessel, I recommend that you wash it out with warm water multiple times (let it overflow into the sump and scoop it out)

I know that dishwasher detergent is said to damage the softener, I don't know about soda crystals. Let it run a couple of times with just water in there to rinse it out, then refill with salt granules and keep an eye on the inside of the washer (especially the heating element if it is visible) to see if goes white with limescale.

If you need a new softener unit I doubt it would be a cheap repair
