Socks!!!!!

We seem to have piles of unsorted / matched socks all over the house! Please give me your top tips for dealing with socks so that you don't end up with piles of odd ones.

They go in the dirty washing in pairs. The odd one may go astray for a wash or two but they make it back.

Dh and I only have 1 kind of socks on the go if I can help it. So they all match each other.

Ditto dc's school socks - they are all the same sort as well.

Other than that I guess you have to keep on top of it. If you have a backlog could you incentivise the dcs to match as many pairs as possible?
