Am I the only crazy person who gets really excited when you find a new washing powder/fabric conditioner that makes your washing smell amazing?!? Nothing beats the smell of clean washing!!! Which has prompted me to ask.... What's the best smelling powder and fabric conditioner youve found?! My current favourite is the gold lenor which smells divine!!!! :)

I love the smell of Fairy softener - the original fragrance.

How sad am I?

Persil non-bio and blue comfort

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 08/09/2013 17:00

Nothing beats the smell of washing that's been left out to dry in the garden all day. I love love love that smell!!!

Persil non bio a close 2nd Grin

OliviaMMumsnet · 08/09/2013 17:04

I get washing powder fragrance envy at other peoples' houses when they are doing their washing Blush
I am convinced everyone else's washing smells nicer than mine.
I have changed brands/softener combos more than I can remember
I think it's my nose tbh

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 08/09/2013 18:41

I think you really get used to your own washing smell and don't notice it after a while. That's when I know it's time to switch Grin

I love the smell of washing too! I always burn Yankee Candle Clean Cotton tealight so the whole house can have the lovely smell. The Fluffy Towels ones smell great also.

lilithtime · 08/09/2013 22:39

I love the sleep sensations purple one.

fatgirlslimited · 08/09/2013 23:05

Persil non bio and yellow lanor. I've used this combo for about 6 years Grin

Fairylea · 08/09/2013 23:10

The black Lenor one... omg that is divine :)

treaclesoda · 08/09/2013 23:10

Ariel bio powder, loveliest smell of all. I don't taint it with fabric softener, I don't like to do anything to dilute the smell. Grin

Does anyone remember Lenor Downy fabric softener? Was on the market maybe 15 years ago. It was the nicest ever. I think I'd be moved to tears if I smelt it today as it would remind me of the excitement of being a newlywed, and living with dh for the first time.

Can't beat washing that has been out in the garden for the day. Such a calm smell.

AnnieLobeseder · 08/09/2013 23:13

I find the smell of all washing products highly artificial and revolting. We use soapnuts and vinegar, and there is no laundry smell better than washing that's been out in the sun and fresh air all day.

treaclesoda · 08/09/2013 23:14

when my washing goes on the line, it often comes in smelling of manure. Thanks, farmers!

Pudden · 09/09/2013 13:53

another one for ariel bio here with no fabric softener; smells lovely and clean without being overpowering

treaclesoda I used to use Downy fabric softener; it was a transparent liquid and the blurb was that you could use it on towels and it wouldn't affect their absorbancy. I can still 'smell' it in my head IYKWIM

Helliecopter · 09/09/2013 20:26

I get washing smell envy as well! Mine never smells that good. Freshly washed sheets, dried on the line (ironed is a luxury) and on the bed. Wonderful!

TheSlug · 10/09/2013 13:12

I use Lidl products for my washing, formil non bio liquid, straight in the drum and the doussy white coloured bottle for conditioner. bloody love it! Although I have just bought back some savon de marseille scented doussy conditioner from Lidl in France, and that is to die for!!

Fairy1303 · 10/09/2013 14:57

Blue comfort conditioner/blue lenor (blue fetish)?? And fairy liquid non bio capsules (also blue!)

delasi · 10/09/2013 21:02

Marylou The candles smell of clean washing?! Oh I think I might need those...

I think I just like any clean washing smell easily pleased Blush We use Fairy non-bio liquid at the moment and it smells all lovely.

Best softener on the planet is Downy 'April Fresh' - i love love love it.

Combine that with Tide original detergent - best thing on earth. They're USA brands though, so have to get them there.
