Superking size bedding

For those who have superking size bed, can you wash the bedding in a regular sized washing machine?

I'm thinking of treating myself to a superking bed, but my machine is 8kg and I'm worried the bedding won't fit when it needs to be washed

Yes it fits. I have 2 lots, a lightweight cotton one for summer and a heavier brocade for winter, both are fine.

I have an 8kg machine and get my sk duvet cover, pillow cases, fitted sheet and the single bedding from DS's bed done in one wash, loads of room!

I have a standard sized machine and fit it all in one load but split it to dry.

Yes it does - but I find I'm better just putting the duvet cover and the 4 pillow cases plus assorted white knickers and maybe a shirt or two in and leaving the bottom sheet for the next wash.

I have one White Company 200 or 300 count Egyptian cotton pin tuck duvet cover and one random poly cotton duvet cover. As a result, I try to wash and dry my good White Company cover in a single day.

Really do need to get another one when I can afford it

BTW - never use the dryer that's kept for panic washing/drying for school/holiday

It fits! Another one that splits for drying if required! It's always fun hanging it around my rotary line but worth it for a good nights sleep!

I am so my dh is very tall and lies almost diagonally across our bed, I would so love a super king size bed. Please tell me they are brilliant, live up to all expectations and less than a mortgage to buy.

Yawner247 - so agree with you about the challenge fun of getting the duvet cover on to the rotary dryer .

I keep an eye out on the weather forecast to see when there will be a good drying day.

Morethan - we now have a sks but have had sks duvet on ks bed for years & that is worth doing if you can't fit a sks, much better to have duvet a size bigger than your bed, (tho I'm not shelling out a fortune for emporer bedding now;)

I was dreading spending a a chunk of time just to wash bedding, but now I know it fits in machine no probs I'll be bed shopping this week!

The sacrifice is worth it! I'd rather do double washing than have a tiny bed. My parents' double looks like a toddler bed :o

OMG there's even a bigger bed than sks.
My dh would so love one of these. We do have a big bedroom but probably would have to have everything else fitted.

As a side issue silly question.

If you have a really thick mattress on a drawer divan base what sheets do you use and from where.
They never seem to fit the depth of the mattress and come off in the night.

FFs I just found a super Caesar its only 9ft x7ft,
I am only 4ft 11, think I'd be a bit lost. my dh is 6ft 4 so he would be fine.
Oh well, could never afford one.

Re sheets to fit a deep mattress, I just googled super king size extra deep sheet and found something off EBay or Amazon (can't remember which). May still have invoice somewhere - it was very reasonable for the thread count.

Ikea SKS sheets fit non-Ikea SKS mattresses as they are the same size, unlike standard sizes.
