How much would you pay for a toilet seat?

DH has just bought a new toilet seat that we need for £30. Seems like a lot to me and I've seen some for £9.99. Surely a toilet seat is a toilet seat. Do you think a £9.99 one would be ok or is it going to collapse whilst sitting on it or something?!

They crrtainly do vary in price and some are more sturdy than others. £30 should be a good seat, £9.99 sounds a bit cheap but probably adequate. the last one I bought was less than a tenner and I am happy with it.

Mine was £30

I am generally quite tight with money but it was a worthy investment.

Since you asked its black flecked with gold and has a built in toddler seat. The feeling if solidity when you sit on it was worth every penny.

The fact the dd 18mo can sit on the toilet without being held and scared of falling in was also with every penny do really it was a bargain Wink

Just bought one for circa £30, its replaced the evidently cheap one the previous owners installed. It's comfy to sit on, doesn't slide about and soft closes so DH can't leave it up. For that alone its worth every penny. I'd spend a lot more if there was a self cleaning one on the market!

Just bought a new white one today on eBay for our business - £12.99 including postage. Had one from the same company before and excellent quality, for a cheap loo seat.

Mine was £17 from Lidl. It has a built in child seat so 2 layers of seat so DCs can sit on it without wobbling around or feeling like they are going to fall in.

I would love a Fired Earth toilet seat but cannot bear to part with the money. £30 is a reasonable amount to pay and will buy you an adequate seat. Buy cheap buy twice.

Always I don't often swear but I just looked at the price of a Fired Earth toilet seat Shock

We had a free cheap ones and they broke within months, paid £30 for our recent one and its lasting., you can tell the difference, much better quality. Hinges are also contained, its easier to clean, def worth the money.

I buy a new look seat every year or so tho four boys

ilovepowerhoop · 05/09/2013 12:50

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8331616.htm - we have this one and it is lasting well so far

I have just returned the £40 walnut soft close seat from B&Q, for the 2nd time, as the soft close stopped working. Have just bought one for £20 in homebase, reduced from £40.

It is nowhere near as nice though.
