With soapy water, give the drum, door seal and soap draw a good clean, then run an empty 90º wash on a full cycle.

lucysmam · 28/08/2013 21:55

it could be to do withthe seal, it's knackered and could do with replacing - a bit of the top is missing! (well, has come off in the door Shock )

Will have a look on amazon to see how much one is while I look for glue

Clean the filter, and get a bag of washing soda for the hot hot hot wash. You can put white cotton towels in, but no powder or liquid.

If the water foams and goes grey, that's the old soap sludge dissolving. Do it again until it stays clean.

just fixed this on my machine - cleaned the filter (it wasn't blocked but had a bit of scum in it and STANK) and ran the machine at 90 degrees with washing liquid and a bit of anti-bacterial spray. Nervous even about this (Definitely can't use bleach) because we have a septic tank.

next wash came out unsmelly. Must find things to wash at 90 degrees in future!

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 11:24

It's going round on a 90now with a squirt of bleach. Does washing soda do the same as white vinegar?

Need dp here to lift the machine to bung a towel under to do filter, it's in a v. awkward place & I don't have a skinny enough tub to catch any water in there even if I take its 'door' off. will add that to weekend to do list.

(Maybe I ought to put this stuff on calendar then I might actually think about doing it Confused )

vinegar will remove limescale

washing soda will remove soap sludge

stink is usually bacteria living in the sludge.

bleach will kill todays bacteria, but if the sludge is still there it will get recolonised.

A biscuit-baking tray or a dustpan will often fit under the filter

If you have a Bosch it will probably have a small rubber hose which allows you to drain out the water before you open the filter.

If you have not taken the filter out for a long time, get some rubber gloves to help you grip. A jar-opening aid may also help.

PigletJohn, you are great for tips and information Smile

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 12:03

It's a Haus machine. Never thought of a dustpan, that would fit...genius! Last time I had the filter out was a few months ago...dp got a shirt & forgot to take the plastic neck bits out Confused

Bleach will have to do for today. Shopping coming tomorrow so will have washing soda and vinegar then to do a proper job.

Thanks Piglet, info much appreciated Smile

don't put vinegar and soda in together as they will neutralise each other

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 13:58

gotcha. will do two separate washes

I didn't know they'd do that! Learn something new every day Smile
