Stored fabrics getting musty smelling

I have a big lidded basket full of fabrics stored away for sewing projects but its all getting musty smelling being stored together. Any ideas how to prevent it or get rid of the smell?

Place a (wrapped) baby soap in the basket, or tumble drier sheets between the layers.

I think that if you regularly unpack the fabric (once a month), lay it on the bed for an hour or 2 then re pack it with a bar of fragranced soap inside it will smell fresher for longer.

My friend is very lucky and has a workshop where she has a washing line with all her fabrics pegged in place with herbs hanging inbetween them, she rarely has problems with musty smells on her fabrics.

Oh I'm jealous if the workshop! Maybe DP will give up the attic to me Grin our house doesn't have enough rooms.
