Which sort should I buy to turn towels white again?

Not sure what it would do to a towel but there's a new Harpic bleach called White and Shine that has bicarb of soda in it. Sparkles up my loo beautifully!

You could try putting them in a bucket of diluted bleach. Printed on the back of my bottle of Domestos is the instruction that to bleach whites you should use 20 ml of bleach for every 5 litres of water and leave soaking overnight. I've 'whitened' the odd thing this way and have always washed them afterwards in the machine and hung them out to dry for as long as possible - soaking things in bleach does leave them with a bleachy smell which I don't particularly like. Have you tried the washing powders/liquids that are just for whites?

I would use that stuff you use to turn your nets white, comes in a sachet and you soak them.
