How do I get rain marks off a velvet jacket?

It was really expensive, sort of silky velvet, and I've only worn it once. I had it on at a funeral and it started raining, but I couldn't just whip it off at the graveside. It's sort of olive-y colour, and it's lighter and flatter where it's been rained on. Can I do anything?

my mother hungs her velvet coats in the shower room to clean, whether that would help. Not to upset you i have also heard her say never get velvet wet, you could try dry cleaners thay might help

I'll try the shower thing thanks. Yes, there were various tags and labels warning of the consequences of getting it wet. Sad. If that fails, I'll try the dry cleaners. Thanks for your help.
