Urgh, washed this and now it smells of FISH!!! WTF?

I washed the cushion cover off our Ikea Poang chair the other day. this one

I tumble dried it, even though the label said do not tumble dry.

But as per the thread title, it now reeks like fish, so much so that MIL said the other evening that she thought we had eaten fish for tea.

HOW can that possibly happen?? And what can I do about it??

That's very odd. I'd rewash it. I wash mine regularly and it has never smelled of fish!

The only thing I can thing of, is if there is any glue in the cushion (to hold the foam/filling to the fabric) some glues have a fishy aroma (as they are made from fish parts) here hope this helps

Ah, it does have a lining inside the cover, I wonder if it is fish glue. I think I will email Ikea and ask.

If there is fish glue, then putting it in the drier would probably make it honk.

Probably my own fault for ignoring the care instructions!!

:) yep the dryer may have be a fish sauna lol. I do the exact same, ignore the labels and kick myself later
