Do droppings always mean mice?!? Help!

We have just moved into a house which was rather neglected by the previous occupant - it is grimy, very dusty etc. They had a large dog which had the run of the house.
DH spotted some mouse droppings in the cupboard under the stairs last night - we haven't seen any elsewhere so are hoping that the droppings are very old... is this wishful thinking? We bought traps today but I really, really hope there are no mice Sad

There probably aren't any at this time of year, but they may well move in once it starts to get colder. I would get some poison and leave some in strategic places like under the stairs, behind kitchen unit plinths etc. We've tried lots of things over the years and this has definitely been the best strategy.

thanks mrsmini ... we might have to get a cat as well to put them off coming back in!

We have two cats - ours are useless at catching mice unless they're pets

nooooooo! Ok, will try strategic poison and of course, poo-monitoring. What a joyful task! Grin
