What should I put on my living room floor?

My living room currently has a carpet that was already there when we bought the house, but now it really needs replacing. It gets a lot of use, there's a small porch which leads into it then you have to walk through the living room to get to the rest of the house. I'm just not sure whether to get another carpet, go for a good quality laminate or real wood.

I like carpet, it's warm and cosy but gets worn and dirty easily (even though we always take shoes off the porch is so tiny there can be overspill). Would laminate or wood be a better option, or would they feel cold in winter? I'm not sure which would be the best option and would welcome any advice.

Do wood or laminate scratch easily?

Both scratch, maybe wood a bit more but wood looks very nice and the scratches are difficult to notice ime

I have laminate due to money issues but would love real wood again

I would go for another carpet. My ex did our lounge in laminate and it was freezing. As soon as he left I put down a fitted carpet and he difference would immediate.
