Getting smoke out of clothes

Can anyone suggest how to get smoke out of clothes? I have just been given a huge amount of beautiful baby clothes but they all smell of cigarette smoke and I mean they really smell badly Confused
I have washed them once and they still stunk so they are currently in on a second wash, if this doesn't work what could I do? It seems such a waste to throw them all.

Thanks in advance Smile

don't throw them - it should come out with a hot wash. The stuff is oily so don't waste time with cool washing.

and hang on the line to dry.

Sunshine will be good, but even drizzle will help as more smell will come out when it dries off.

don't worry if they smell a bit when they come out of the washer, a lot of that will come out when they dry.

could you wash them in bio detergent and then redo in non bio (if you are wanting to use non bio for your baby).
