I have got really fussy, I will not buy from Asda or Tesco ( or any supermarkets ) but I will buy from Marks and Spencers.

We used to alternate between the local butcher and Marks, but the butcher has recently passed away and the butchers has remained closed.

Money is quite an issue and I seem to be spending a fortune at Marks, really I cant afford to shop there.

Where do you get your meat ?

Where do you live?
If London or the surrounds try field and flower, they deliver and we order a box say every 4-6 weeks...delicious Smile

Waitrose treat farmers much fairer than the other supermarkets and I am lucky enough to be able to make that choice.

One of our local farms was bribing sent into bankruptcy by Tesco but was saved by waitrose.

We also eat our own pigs and lambs.

Tesco meat around here tends to be quite low quality on comparison to waitrose. It is years since I bought in Sainsburys so can't comment on their meat

Butcher - his meat is either free-range or organic and from local farms. It's fab but expensive - I aim to eat meat less often as a result. Also buy from m&s (hate their bacon though) and Waitrose when I am in town. I tried lamb from Aldi and it was fine... But the horsemeat thing has sent me back to the trusted butcher.

Try to buy red meat at local farm shop. Animals are grass fed local etc and its not significantly more expensive.

I quite like morrisons for other meat and fish. There isn't a convenient butchers near me.

I don't think m and a chicken is any better than anyone else's. however I hadn't realised about waitrose treating farmers better.
