What is this black line

It is appearing on more and more of my clean washing, about an inch long, thin black line. Never anywhere discreet, it looks almost like a pen mark but it is appearing on more and more washing. I hard checked it is not getting caught in the seal of the door.

Anyone had this, or similar?

I get them too. I cleaned the seal carefully but it is not that.

Have a look inside the seal where it 'meets' the washing machine. I found a whole load of gunk down there and cleaned it out.

I try and run a really hot wash with soda crystals and an empty machine every so often. It does seem to get rid of the black marks.

Ooh thank you, I will try both those.

if it is black grease, then it will be the drum bearing breaking up. It is possible to fit new, but expensive, unless it is a very expensive machine, or under warranty, start looking for a new one.

It is very difficult to remove the mark, and I would stop washing anything expensive or white in it.

I agree with pigletjohn drum in your machine is about to pack in. Same thing happened to me but my drum was a "sealed unit" so I had to get a new machine :(

Ooh, not great news then, I will call the 'fella wot does'
