Expedit units, any advice?

I have an area in our family room where I'd like to use some Expedit units to control the DSs mountains of stuff.

The area is 133cm wide so just too narrow for the big 5x5 unit (which is 149cm wide).

I do already have a 2x4 unit like this

I've looked at other cube storage options like GLTC but they are all much more expensive.

Would it look odd to get 4 single Expedit cubes and stack them up next to the unit I already have?

Would be interested to hear if anyone as done this and how it looks.

Thanks

How about the 5x1 unit?

tribpot · 14/07/2013 18:29

So not one of these?

I wouldn't stack 4 unless they were attached to each other in some way - I had a look at the instructions for the single cube to see if they came with a fastening of some kind, and they might do, it's hard to tell.

I could add one of the 5x1 units yes, but they are one cube taller than than the 4x2 that I have so they might look a bit odd side by side.

That said I could add two singles above my existing unit to even them out.

I think 4 stacked are going to be taller than a 4x2 though.

SoupDragon · 14/07/2013 21:23

Each single cube is fat on all sides so when stacked will have two fat sides between each cube.

Soup yes I think you are right.
Will have to think of another plan.
Damn!

If you have the hight I'd put the 5x1 next to the 4x2, because the lower selves will line up.

Then put, a vase, lamp, picture, books or what ever suits the room on top of the lower one to make it look deliberate.

3 of these?

I agree. Also, f one end is in a corner, I"d put the higher unit there.

Pannacotta · 15/07/2013 08:35

Good idea, we do have the height, the ceiling height is around 3m!
And yes one side is a corner so the taller one would look ok there I think.
Thanks...

The edge of the taller one could work as a bookend.

Pannacotta · 15/07/2013 16:33

Soup that's a great idea.
