My very favourite knife

is a Continente (as in the European supermarket chain) serrated utility knife.

The serration is really fine. It cost me about 3 euros nearly 7 years ago.

Over time it has become a bit damaged and I do worry that one day I'm either going to break it or lose it or it's just going to become blunt. I've spent quite a bit of money trying to find a back up, but nothing comes close.

Does anyone have a knife like this that they can recommend?

What am I going to do when the knife is kaput? All other, much more expensive ones I've bought, are useless.

A loit of Kitchen Devils knives are serrated or scalloped. I don't like them myself as they can't really be resharpened, but it prevents the edge being easily damaged on hard surfaces.

My inherited paring knife by "Skyline" is now about fifty years old - if you find one, grab it and keep sharpening it, this is my old favourite.

Thanks for the suggestions. MissSunshine - I bought one of those in my search but it doesn't cut the mustard (iykwim).

PJ - I'll have a look at kitchen devils when I'm back in the UK - I don't think we have them here in Oz.

Showtime - I'll have a look at skyline ones too.

I wish I'd bought more of the Continente one when I was there. I only bought it cos the food in The Azores was quite dire and we decided to make our own sandwiches.

Kuhn rikon knives are my favourite and they come in jazzy colours I have a pink one and a red serrated tomato one.

Tramonita steak knives.. bought them in Oz .. they're really great. Think they are made in Brazil.

Gaggia - I've also got a Kuhn one in my collection and Jamie Oliver's ones and Victronix, but NOTHING, I tell you, NOTHING is as good as my 3 euro finely serrated knife I bought in the Continente supermarket in The Azores.

We bought two actually as my PILs were with us and we were all cutting up bits and pieces for sandwiches (and lemons for gin and tonics!). MIL has the other knife and I cannot get it back from her for love or money.

I'll try and search out Tramonita steak knives - but I don't want to get my hopes up
