'Flat wash' rug

Help!

My aged cat has peed on an acrylic (backed with latex) rug. It has a red/blue/cream oriental type pattern on it.

The rug says it should be professionally flat washed but I don't have the money for this.

Can I spread it out on a suitable surface and give it a good going over with something? I am thinking a soap/vinegar/bicarb mixture, and treat in three sections (limited floor space on non-porus surface).

I would but then I'm daring like that Wink

At the moment, it is standing rolled up in the bath and I've just sprayed a small patch with vinegar to see if has any effect on colour or odour.

Bloody cat!! Angry

You can get a special spray for cat piss- I use it and it takes away the baddies and the nasty smell

I have a spray from Wilkinsons, Jazz but it's not made much difference. Is that what you use?

The white vinegar seems to be shifting it a bit though.

No, there's a spray in a turquoise bottle from pets at home. It also repels them from peeing there again.

Sounds similar stuff. Not got a particularly PAH store, but we do go past one every so often on the way to Lakeside. Next time we're headed that way I'll stop off.

Not sure that vinegar would be safe with latex - I'd give it a rinse in the bath/shower, sprinkle with bicarb then rinse again after couple of hours. Yes to getting some anti-pee spray - could you ask at vets or pet shop, as it's likely to recur.
