Vax Hoover or trusty Dyson?

Thinking about buying this www.vax.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners/air3-max-pet-vacuum-cleaner

Anyone have any experience of Vax. Or am I better just going for a Dyson?

dyson are something of a sacred cow I think. I have both. we bought a vax upright on sale and were then given a new dyson. both were the pet hair versions (cant find the model numbers) .

the vax is heavy and loud but the suction is brilliant and so it the brush. I think it gets the dog hair and toddler detritus up better than the dyson.

the dyson however is lighter and much more maneuverable. it is much easier to do the stairs and other awkward places.

so I guess it depends what you want. if your carpeys are really mucky a vax might be your best bet. if they are only moderately dirty then a dyson might suit.

I went from a dyson to a Miele. Life changing (well, not really, but it is far superior and that's their cheapest model) Grin

We've switched from Dyson to Miele too and the difference is incredible. The Miele is far superior, this is also noted by Which. Ours is the silent solutions model and cost about £200. Never going back to Dyson again..ours broke loads and we found things jammed / fiddly. Have never had a Vax so can't comment on those :)

I didnt like my dyson and got a miele instead

I hate my VAX. It's heavy, the handle is uncomfortable to hold and its a nightmare to empty. And the turbo brush stopped working.

I am on my 2nd vax cylinder model. I bought the first one because it was half price in Argos - about £60. The guarantee was for six years and although the motor was fine the machine itself was literally falling apart after four years. Vax replaced it for a brand new model last year with no hassle. But I am unimpressed with this model as it is a pain to empty and only works well when the filter has just been cleaned. I would go for a Miele next time, but still a cylinder as that what I'm used to.

Miele cat and dog

I have two Dysons. Originally loved the small cylinder animal but it couldn't cope with brand new carpets. I bought a second Dyson upright and I hate it. It is so heavy and cumbersome and the attachments are so hard to use. I have very recently bought a gtech Airram and I love love love it!

Another vote for miele cat and dog. I have had vax and Dyson, but the Miele is the best.
