Cleaning the flue of a wood burning stove?

If you've had your flue swept/cleaned recently can I ask how much was it? We have a wood burning stove and I think it is supposed to be cleaned yearly. Quotes seem to be widely varying and I'd like to know what's the norm. Thanks.

Hmm, think I'm being had. Have been quoted 150quid by one firm but thought that was steep. Will get some more quotes. Thanks everyone.

if you don't get the chimney swept annually and there is a fire in it, good luck in getting the insurers to pay up.

But yes, £150 is taking the mick.

The chimney sweep gives us an insurance certificate. Our sweep is not really a 'firm', just one man and a bag of brushes and a vacuum. Maybe you're going for something too specialist. Any chimney sweep can do it.Takes about half an hour so 150 quid is a bit too much.

I had a top of the range sweep out who belongs to all manner of chimney sweep 'associations' and who left a certificate for something or other and he cost £75 so £150 is a bit steep IMO.
