How do you make yourself stick to the routines?

I've done FlyLady on and off for years, but I've never managed to stick to it consistently for very long. I have all my routines sorted out and I know they work, I know I'm happier when I'm doing it properly and everything's running smoothly, but still I can procrastinate all day and get none of it done, which makes me fee rubbish about myself.

How do you make yourself just do it?

I can't stick at it everyday either. I do most days but not absolutely every day.

If you are generally happy with the levels you get to then I'd say don't worry about it.

Forgive yourself a lot when you slip!

I do some things no matter what. I never have piles of laundry any more. I do a little every day, even if I just put a handful of underwear away. I also always swish and swipe toilets and wipe down bathrooms.

Next time you feel bad about procrastinating set a timer for 10 mins and do something, then you can carry on procrastinating without guilt. (Go delete all emails from before today counts as decluttering Wink )

I'm in an off phase but still doing those basics. One day I shall wake up and do my routines again. And as Flylady says 'I'll jump in where I am' and not think back to now.

Don't worry if you miss a day, remember you are never behind just jump in where you are. It's ok to have a day off, life isn't all about housework anyway. I like doing something for 15 minutes and then making a point of having a break. I'm only 3 weeks into fly lady but so far I love it.

I tried FL several times and could never stick to it! Then I read something, sorry can't remember the author, but they were saying that everyone has a different style and you have to use what works for you in terms of remembering to do stuff. I am just NOT going to remember to sit down and open my "control journal" everyday...and I don't even remember to wipe down the toilet and that takes 2 seconds! But if I have a big sign in the bathroom saying WIPE THE TOILET then I will do it. If I set phone reminders to put a load of laundry on then I just do it. Same with filing, I have a massive pile of paper filing, I don't ever make it a priority to sit down and go through them....with me it's out of sight out of mind. I am very visual so for something to work there needs to be a visual reminder and it has to be in my face. DH is exactly the same way.
