Where do you keep your books?

Does everyone have a bookcase?
I ask, as i don't have a book case, just books randomly dotted all over the place!
I don't really think I actually need any books, given that everything is now digital......but i do seem to have quite a few!

Bookcases in almost every room, random piles of books all over the place, and an attic full of them...

I love having books around, even though everyone in the family has a Kindle.

bookcases in the living room and the kids bedrooms and a random pile of books in my bedroom. It's easier now i have a kindle as they are on that instead

I made DP build me a bookcase into a doorway that wasn't used.
He bought me a Kindle to stop me from buying more physical books!

One tall thin bookcase, one short wide one, three on the wall in the cloakroom and three small on landing wall over stairs

shelves on walls I mean

Tw1nkle · 03/06/2013 19:14

I really don't think I have the room for a bookcase - shelves could work though.....just really not sure that I actually NEED any books anymore!

(My daughter does have a bookcase, but she's 4 and learning to read, so that is packed full with books - which is great).

In the library. I go nearly every week and then take the books back and swap them for more books. Luckily my local library is pretty good and has most of what I want to read

pollywollydoodle · 04/06/2013 16:49

bookcases in every room and this month's library book piled up by the beds

We have just moved and I don't want the lounge or dining room filled with bookcases again so they are all currently in the under stairs cupboard... it is full Blush and that was after sending 4 boxes to the charity shop.

StupidFlanders · 05/06/2013 10:03

Children have a bookcase in their playroom and a bedside table with some, I have cook books in a kitchen cupboard and have got rid of all my actual books except a couple of favourites. I hate clutter.

wonkylegs · 05/06/2013 10:14

Kids books in DS bedroom (2 bookcases & some shelves)
Fiction books - wall of bookcases in spare room + Kindle.
DH's medical reference books - shelves in his study
My architectural reference books - 2 bookcases in my study
Recipe books - shelf in kitchen
All other books - built in alcove shelves in living room.

DewDr0p · 05/06/2013 12:59

Bookcase/built in shelves in the dcs rooms for kids' books
Big built in shelves in hall alcove for grownup books
Bookcase in the living room for gardening books
Overflow bookcase in the loft room for more grownup books
Shelves in the kitchen for cookery books

Written down that's an awful lot of book storage isn't it?! I do love books.

I keep mine in bookcases, but I think shelves are just as good.

I massively decluttered before a house move and I've now got about 500 books left. There are 2 tall bookcases in the living room with the books arranged in order - fiction a-z (books I've read and love and books I want to read some time) which fit into one tall bookcase, and non-fiction roughly in an organised way - dictionaries, cookery, humour, etc. which somehow also fit neatly into a second tall bookcase. My ds has 2 smaller bookcases in his bedroom containing his books - fiction and computer-related books. We don't have a Kindle.

I'm glad we have cut down but I think one day I'd like to own more books. But for now it's just right.Smile
