Ballpoint pen on vinyl tablecloth

We have a wipe clean vinyl coated tablecloth to protect our dining room table and yesterday one of my children (I know which one, because she also had a beard and a moustache when I found her) decided to go off piste with a black ballpoint pen and has scribbled on it. A lot. I have now seen that the website says quite clearly that it will not withstand ballpoint pen:

But surely there must be something that can lessen the marks? I've tried ecover kitchen spray, which turned them from black to blue, fairy liquid and cream cleaner, but to no effect. Does anyone have any good ideas?

You could try toothpaste. Alternatively a small dab of scouring powder and very gentle rubbing might do it.

Test a small area first to make sure it doesn't dull the finish.

Babywipes will probably shift it

When all else fails, strange as it sounds, I use hob cleaner (easy do is the brand) so you could try this.

I try WD40 first

Thank you all. I have no idea what scouring powder is! And I thought WD40 was to oil bike chains. But I will give all these potions a try.

Try hairspray. Sounds mad, but totally works on my similar table cloth

Thanks. I will report back with the winner!

Nail polish remover on a cotton bud.

WD40 faded it a bit for me in the same situation, but as you say, the tablecloth is to protect the table.

Will add nail polish to the list. So far baby wipes and toothpaste were a no. But it now smells minty fresh!
