Bags for after school activities - where to keep?

Hi,

Where do you all keep you bags for all the kids after school activities, in a communal place or their rooms?

I have worked out for me it is easiest to wash and immediately repack the right stuff in the right bag, swimming, pe kits, ballet etc etc but seem to be gaining an increased pile of bags and trying to work out where to put them.

4 kids but only 2 doing activities so far so going to be an ongoing problem for me!

Ideas please....

We keep bags in the bottom of the wardrobe.
If that doesn't appeal, then hooks on back of bedroom door, or the wall. Or a hanging set of hooks attached to top of door.

What about 2 rows of 4 hooks in hall/utility
2 hooks per child (upper and lower)
Put bags on hooks for relevant child.
Could also use top hook for coat instead if required

You could even use these labels on wall to write name of child.

Trying link again!

Grrr- won't link to specific item but is Martha Stewart home Office chalkboard labels!

Thanks for the idea. We have a fairly narrow hall so we would bash the bags walking past. Trying to think of any other bits of unused wall downstairs.....

Do you have a cupboard under the stairs? would hooks go on the back of the door?

londonlogin · 03/06/2013 21:32

In the car?

parachutesarefab · 03/06/2013 21:33

We use the cupboard under the stairs,

Fresh01 · 05/06/2013 13:49

Cupboard under the stairs is a good idea but it is one of my two "dumping" areas in the house! But if I cleared it out it would work. There is even a row of hooks somewhere in there.......

We have a basket each, which hold each persons bags/hats/scarves/gloves and they have the responsibility to put it away.

Startail · 05/06/2013 15:12

Where ever DD2 dumps them, It is then my fault they are missing or not washed.

Each child has a hanging wardrobe organiser (the type that will hold jumpers), on a rail in in the understairs cupboard. There is a section for each day of the week, so as things are washed they are all put back in the correct slot. It also saves us having to think about what they need to take to school each day.

I have a hook for each child in the cupboard under the stairs. They have labelled bags (a 'dance' bag for ballet, one from their gym club for gym and so on), so they just need to grab the relevant bag on the relevant day. It works for us!

Some people I know keeps it in the boot of their car. They never forget to bring the right bags Grin
