Period blood stains in laundry

My daughter's stained pants went through a rinse then a wash. They are still stained do I need to re wash all of the laundry or just the pants are these just harmless stains left? Please answer

Unless any of the other laundry is marked then no I wouldn't. I would just put the pants back in on there own and see if the stains come out.

mirry2 · 28/05/2013 13:16

Soak the pants for a few hours or over night in a highly concentrated solution of biological washing powder and the stains should come out

seeker · 28/05/2013 13:18

Why would you rewash all the laundry?

Do a cold soak before washing next time.

homeaway · 28/05/2013 17:34

Just put some washing powder in a bucket, I add boiling water to dissovle the powder then add cold water, then put in the item that is stained and leave it to soak for a while, most stains come out.

IAmNaturallyThisOrange · 28/05/2013 18:05

Bin them, knickers are cheap and you'll use too much water/powder etc trying to clean them...environmentally more friendly and less work for you :)

KatAndKit · 28/05/2013 18:49

Bin them. If the stain doesn't come out the first time it never will. In future the best thing is Vanish before they go in the wash - the hard soap bar of vanish, not the spray or the powder in the wash.

fengirl1 · 28/05/2013 18:54

If the stain is fresh, soaking in cold water with plenty of salt works as well.

Summerloading · 28/05/2013 18:55

Use Biotex, and leave to soak for at least two days. That usually does the trick Smile

knackeredmother · 28/05/2013 18:59

Do you mean have ou contaminated the rest of te laundry? If so- don't be daft. Just bin the pants.

I wouldn't even bin the pants, I'd keep them as 'period pants'.

NotAQueef · 28/05/2013 19:04

Cold soak withsoke salt or vanish bar as above.
Oh, and buy her some black knickers!

MultumInParvo · 28/05/2013 19:10

Agree with dr

AdoraBell · 29/05/2013 02:12

I always use cold water and lots of salt, soak for a few hours then wash. You could try that but as they've already been washed it may not work. Depends if they were on a hot wash as heat effectively cooks the blood and that sets the stain into the fabric.

AdoraBell · 29/05/2013 02:14

Didn't see that fengirl had already recommended salt, sorryBlush

Vanish spray and biological detergent works very well IME (certainly got all the blood out after my home birth!)

superfluouscurves · 30/05/2013 13:26

For future ref, you need cold water to get blood out, once you wash item in warm water it is set. So cold soak prior to washing is the way to go.

Then find Vanish stain sticks (the old fashioned blocks that require elbow grease) very effective on organic stains.

[Tried salt water once and it set it even more, but maybe I was doing it incorrectly?] Isn't salt used for setting dyes though?

madmomma · 31/10/2013 09:28

black cotton knickers only, for teenaged girls

missinglalaland · 31/10/2013 09:29

Ammonia will get out blood stains. That said, I've never figured out where to buy it in Britain.

Rinse under a hot tap with a squirt of Fairy liquid then bung through with normal wash.

Do not use boiling water as it sets the stain. Salt and cold water does work but ime you have to soak over night and rinsing under the tap is quick.

JeanSeberg · 31/10/2013 15:51

Buy the cheapest black knickers from Primark, problem solved.

valiumredhead · 31/10/2013 17:57

Yy black knickers!Grin
