The house is often not what I want it to be. Not a tip but often a bit untidy and dusty. And sometimes laundry gets out of hand. I work long hours and can't afford a cleaner right now. So, I need something simple. Three basic rules that will keep things under control. I won't spend evenings doing housework because I work after the children are in bed. Please help me plan a strategy, Should it be weekly, daily, monthly? I tried Flylady for a while and the house did look better but I was always cleaning and the emails got on my nerves.

I have recently changed my routine and it looks a bit more like this:

Morning- Put away any clean dishes from night before while coffee drips. Make sure all hairbrushes, make-up, etc get put away before I leave. Make beds, this makes the whole room look tidy. Water plants

When I get home from work- Clean loo. Spray and swipe shower doors and sink. Have DsD take rubbish out if bin is full. Do a general sweep putting things away. Shoes go in hanging shoe rack thingy inside hallway closet. Put handbag away and plug in phone to charge. Dinner.

After Dinner- Wash dishes right away. Rinse with very hot water and put in rack to dry. Spray and wipe all countertops. Take out frozen meat to defrost for next day's dinner if needed. Set up coffeemaker for morning. Wipe my sink spotless!

Before Bed- All cups and glasses need to be washed. Throw dog toys in their toy basket. Straighten up couch, fluff pillows. All dirty clothes etc in laundry basket. Quick vacuum if needed.

nfk I think it was a recycling box with a lid from ikea, it cost about three pounds or so.
