Tiny laundry cupboard, storage ideas?

I am converting a small room (once a loo) into a laundry cupboard.
It is long but narrow, approx 1m wide x 2.5m long/deep but the door opens into it.
I need to store detergent/stain remover etc in there and would love to be able to fit in a laundry bag (ideally a divided one for whites/colours etc).

There are two windows so no wall space, other than the back of the door.

Any suggestions on storage for the above?

Do you mean a cupboard for your dirty washing?

How about putting your washing machine in there? Stcking tumble dryer on top if thats seperate. Freeing up that space instead if thats more useable?

Can you reverse the door, so it opens out? We did this for a tiny space.

Sorry, realised after I wrote it that my post wasnt very clear...

I meant it will be a room where we have the washer and dryer stacked.
I would re-hang the door but it wouldn't work, there is another door right next to it.
It is so narrow that there is no room for a worktop on which to sort washing or even a cupboard, which makes it a bit impractical, though still nicer than having the machines in the kitchen.

But I do need to store detergent and dirty laundry and there is only around 20-30cm to the side of the machines, but lots of unusable space infront!

Could you go for an iternally hung sliding door? It could slide into a slit in the worktop you want.

Glass shelves over the window for detergents etc could also be an option.

If you've got 20 - 30cm what about a pull out kitchen larder unit.

Is the ceiling a good height? If so what about a deep over door shelf?

How approx is the 1m wide?

If the washer and dryer were side on and side by side its just possible you could open the doors and havea worktop over. You could create more space by chasing the pipework back into the wall or buying slimline (40cm deep appliances) see here

At 40cm deep you should have a good 2ft/ 60cm of access space for loading and it would create your worktop area and you could have wall shelves/ cupboards over.

Thanks Mis, all good ideas but the room is an odd shape and tapers to around 85cm at the end where the machines would go.
One of the windows is there too, ie behind the stacked machines, which rules out a pull out larder or glass shelves.

The ceiling height is ok but a shelf above the door would be hard to get out as the door opens inwards.

Its a very awkward shape, but still nicer than having the washer in the kitchen

Could you change the door to a concertina one to free up wall space?

What about a narrower door a 2ft rather than a 2ft6 or 3ft. If set hard over to one side you should be able to get decent floor to ceiling shelves that are 200 deep on the side.

Most washers/ dryers are just under 600/ 2ft so with the door off hinges you could squeeze it in.

What about modifying something like this with bags for your laundry?

Instead of stacking the washer and dryer on top of each other, why not get a combined washer dryer , then you would just have the one appliance and could get a work surface above it.

Its an original victorian door so dont really want to change it.

Really need to keep the appliances we have, if not I would have looked at getting a washer/dryer.

And have a look at some of the ideas on there.
Be prepared to be v of the mahoosive American laundry rooms.

Could you build a frame so the dryer is elevated with room above the washer and under the drier for a laundry basket/ pull out shelf?
Could you put in a clothes rail and hang clothes up to store them.

You can buy narrow plastic/ wire wheel out shelves fir down the side if washers. ( like veg racks)

On the back if the door get a sir organizer or similar for things like bags bra bags etc

We have got to get a work surface in there so what about a folding one mounted to the wall pull up flip leg out and you have a work surface for folding etc

Ok detergent etc you are going to have to have either in a cupboard on on a shelf somewhere ok just seen your ikea cupboard that is basically a bathroom cabinet with clothes baskets inside but bathroom cabin area come in all sorts of shapes and sizes washing powder etc could go in here

I have the perfect thing but it was a gift. I'll try and find out where my dad got it.

It hangs in back if door and has three shelves and then a laundry bag. I have put 2 bags for life in it so I can colour sort.

Yy to pull down work top. I have seen it done with chain. So you have it hinged on to wall and held at height you want by 2 chains then to fold just hook link of chain on to cup hook or similar.

Yy to glass shelves on windows.

Also could you hang veg baskets from ceiling for storing bits and pieces.

How far are you willing to go, a trolley that pulls out? A shelving into that lowers on pulleys?

What space is down the side of washer?

Can you -sticky back plastic, frost one of the windows and hang storage over front?

Are all walls completely covered in windows? I use over the door storage devices in loads of unusual places, I have picture rails and just hook them over that!

Can't you have shelves along one wall , from floor to ceiling ? So long as you can walk past and operate the machine

Is the ceiling high enough to mount a pulley hard up against one wall ? You could remove the two middle struts ( most have 4) and attach rigid crates under slung from the outside 2 struts

Algot shelves from ikea, you can get them in narrow widths, so can put shelves in next to the washer. You can also hang the brackets over windows, creating 'wall space' where you can put shelves. They also have a drying rack. I know this as all these things are in my laundry cupboard!

Thanks all, a wall mounted worktop may work as well as a trolley to the side of the washer (if its narrow enough).
Will look at teh Algot system in IKEA too.

Hang a shoe tidy (sheet thing with pockets) on the back of the door for all your cleaning products. Won't take a big box of detergent but if you use tablets you are sorted.

Pull out airing rack (the wire kind that fixes to each wall) and a pull down/out shelf to sort stuff out of the dryer.

Don't buy a washer/dryer, they're rubbish and you immediately lose the ability to do two things at once

definitely rehang the door. I have just done this on a job I am doing and managed to fit a shower cubicle and bath into a fairly small room. Get a carpenter to build floor to ceiling shelving with hanging pegs and boxes

Thanks, the Lilangen IKEA shelf would fit and I really like the laundry bags on hooks idea Pumpkin, think I might use that as it would make good use of the wall space without eating into the room.

Cant re-hang the door noddy as there is a door to the next room which is in the way, which is a shame.
