My drawers are too stiff!

No, not a starching accident, I have two wooden chests of drawers where the drawers just slide in, ie they don't have a groove down the side for runners.

They are really stiff to get in and out, any ideas to make them more free sliding?

Do you mean they are wood on wooden runners?
Rub both the drawer and the runner with candle wax.

Not sure of terminology, there are no grooves down the sides to line up with anything, the drawer just pushes into the hole. The bottom side edges of each drawer rest on thin bits of wood.

Will try candles, thanks. Wonder where one can buy a single candle in this day and age?

Soap works just as well as candle-wax, or even beeswax if you have a bit in sewing box.
