We have an average sized 3 bed house which is carpeted throughout. We have a 1 year old and 3 year old and a jack russell. The plan was to put lovely wooden floors down throughout but that plan has been put on hold due to unexpected DC3. About once a quarter (when the carpets get so bad i cant stand it anymore) i hire a rug doctor and clean all the carpets, rugs etc. The pristine state lasts about 3 days and then the yuck starts to accumulate again (and i start twitching).

Am thinking about buying a our own carpet cleaner instead of hiring the rug doctor. Specifically this one

I would be really interested to hear others experience of carpet cleaners in general and this model in particular if you have one. My main worry is that it wont get the carpets dry enough for them to air dry in a reasonable time iyswim.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

I have got the Vax W90 Rapide. It isn't very good. Took me about 2 tanks of water to get rid of a fresh red wine spillage. Also, it doesn't do much towards drying the carpet - I wouldn't have attempted using it in the winter Sad

I have just bought the dual vax and it is superb! X

EntWife · 13/05/2013 21:25

thanks. Having sopping wet carpets and small children would be a problem.

We have a vax, it gets the carpets clean, but not very dry, so we now try to do them on a Sunday night every few months. The plan being, that they will have time to dry out over night, then I'm out on a Monday morning so they haven extra time to dry before the children have to play on them. 3 children and 2 cars don't make for clean carpets!

Thanks.

In fairness the Rug Doctor takes about 12 hours to dry completely so if it is equivalent to that, we can live with it.

I have the first one you linked to and it's brill
It's so easy to use and leaves the carpets damp not soaking wet
Cream carpets and two mud magnet dogs one of which is only just house trained it had its work cut out
People who have borrowed ours went and got their own
