Smelly armpits on clothes.

This is rather embarrassing, but I seem to have smelly armpits on some of my tops. They smell fresh after washing them, but quickly become smelly when I put them on again.

I did have a spell of washing in non-bio at 30 degrees (trying to do my green bit) but have reverted back to bio at 40 degrees. It doesn't seem to be making any difference though.

Is there anything that I can do to get rid of the smell? Blush

Are they black

Vinegar. Ordinary malt vinegar sprayed on as you sort the washing before bunging it in. Works a treat. If they're very bad then soak them for a couple of hours in a large bucket with about 500mls vinegar added, then wash.

Or Halo sports wash solution.

MousyMouse · 11/05/2013 18:15

less powder, bio powder, wash at 40, extra spin, if possible hang out to dry, no conditioner.

for dh's smelly sports stuff I occasionally use dettol disinfectant liquid (not the pine stuff, it stains) in the softener compartment.

A capful of white vinegar will get rid of the smell Smile

Cheap vodka in a spray bottle. Ariel hygiene washing powder or hygiene stain remover with get rid of the bacteria.

60 degrees only for sweat.

Vinegar is your friend, sprinkle it on before washing leave for a few minutes then wash as normal.

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 11/05/2013 18:25

silly q - where do you fond white vinegar?
I've looked in the viegar section of the supermarket, but only seen white wine vinegar

MousyMouse · 11/05/2013 18:36

white vinegar = distilled vinegar

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 11/05/2013 18:40

oh. And do they sell that?

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 11/05/2013 18:51

I'm a cheapskate, I use regular value malt vinegar.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/05/2013 19:07

Marvellous - I've got vinegar in stock. I'll start attacking the offending articles (that are in a variety of colours stealth)

Thank you all for your help.
