Do you wash poo things separately?

After 8 months we still get the occasional nappy explosion, and I can't make up my mind whether the affected vest (it's usually a vest) should be washed separately (what a waste of a wash!) or rinsed and then washed together with other things (but do the poo germs spread?!). What do you do? Hot wash but together with other whites?

I put poo stuff on a rinse cycle (without soap) on its own first and then add the rest of the washing and do a normal wash
