Advice/opinions wanted please

I'm moving house soon and we're leaving behind the integrated washer/ dryer and will need to buy new separate ones for the new utility room. Any recommendations? I'm inclined towards the large capacity Samsung Eco bubble but wonder if that's any good or just quite new out so hyped up. We'll soon be a family of 4 so large capacity is advantageous.

Bosch and Miele are meant to be the best. Lg and Aeg are good too. Been doing a lot of research myself.

I have a 12kg LG washing machine (just bought it a couple of weeks ago) and absolutely love it!

I should say though that my previous washing machine was a dodgy 6kg with an 800 spin so most models would seem a lot better but I would definitely recommend it.

There's only 4 of us as well but the 12kg drum is so handy. I've washed double duvets, curtains and still haven't managed to get the load to full capacity! It's become like my own personal challenge - every time I shove stuff in and think surely this time it must be full, it does it's weighing bit and it's still got a bit of capacity left. I love being able to get rid of a load of washing all at once although drawback is you do need a lot of hanging space. I've used 2 clothes horses this morning (and that wasn't a full to capacity load).

The Samsung eco bubble didn't come out that well in the Which reviews (LG was the top and the other best buys are mostly Bosch and Miele so I'm sure they're good machines too).

Any questions about it just ask.

ISE brand is the one all the repair guys recommend. Not cheap (almost £1k) but has a 10 year guarantee. When I got mine my usual repair guy said I wouldn't see him again. And I haven't! I've had it a few years now.

Miele are good but equally as expensive for a similar spec and parts/repairs are very expensive.

I don't remember what make mine is. Hotpoint maybe? It wasn't expensive.
You need to consider the functions it has too IMO. Mine is large capacity which is great, but it doesn't have a countdown timer so I've no idea how long the load is going to take. I've printed out the page from the manual to look it up
Because I can never fill it up full, the half load option is good, as otherwise a cotton wash at 60 can take 2 hours.
And the 30 min wash at 30 degrees is great.

If you've a large capacity washer, don't forget a large capacity dryer.

Look at the higher end Bosch machines, The ones with the circles on the side of the washing machines and not lines, these are made in Germany.

I do love it way too much for an inanimate object though! I just put in 3 sets of bedding and a pillow and it still wasn't full!

Rubydanglesbangle is right about the functions. I just stuck everything on the same programme with my old washing machine but I'm finding with this one that I am actually using the different programmes. It's got a little monitor on it which counts down the time to the end of the programme which is very handy (and means that I can time it to go and listen to the little tune it plays when it finishes ). It also self adjusts time and water depending on the weight so you can put a little or a lot in.

I suppose there are a couple of cons though:

• the spin is really good but clothes do come out more crushed so in the summer I think I'll put it back down to 800 to try and save on the ironing (I'm in a hot country so all dries in an hour even if dripping wet).
• you still use the same amount of powder/liquid even though it's probably about 3 of the old loads so is moneysaving in that way but....they don't have the same just washed smell which I do miss a bit.
• the previously mentioned drying space - you do need a lot for a full load.

In seriousness though, I like the idea of the 12kg (my Bosch is 8kg) also liked the wash options/display screen (I'm sounding more sad the more I write this :() my sister also has her first house so offered her to buy the Bosch - cant really go back on it now.

It's becoming a complete saga though, the place I bought the washer from seems to be a scam site and has really terrible reviews - and I have to wait 15 days before filing a chargeback with my bank.

Why are the eco bubbles not good?

I have the Samsung Eco bubbles, it works great, washes all the "stains" from DS3's leaky nappies no problem and I can fit so much in it!
It has so many wash options and the digital display isn't bad to look at either.

Oh thanks squash nice to hear its working good for you, do you have the 12kg? I was getting really worried, added to the saga on buying the thing. I was thinking it weren't meant to be. One thing I will say to anyone buying an appliance. Never go to just-electricals.co.uk.

The Samsung machines are known for not rinsing that well but may work good for you. Have you already ordered it? The Lg's are the same as Samsung but meant to be better and have better reviews.

:( yes already ordered it. But may have to chargeback transaction with bank as the site I ordered it from seems to be a scam. Should of made checks first.

That's all you need, do you still have your Bosch for now? Are you still going to get the samsung from a different company?

I know, am so annoyed.I do still have the Bosch. If the samsung doesn't materialise, then prob will have to get elsewhere. I searched up the LG it looks great but cheapest i have seen is £150 more than the samsung, which is £150 I can't really spend. And as said I can't go back now on he bosch as would be letting my sis down.

I just got a Bosch and trying to get used to it, what programmes works well for you on yours? I was going to get the Lg but the price was a bit more, like you with the Samsung. If you get the Samsung, try appliances online, they are very good.

I always tend to use 3 main programs. The normal cottons one (at 40, 60, 90 degrees - dont shoot me, but I don't believe in cold washing everything) I also use the cottons-stains programme which is good for an extra boost and finally use the darks programme, which if you select the aqua plus option (if your Bosch has it) it puts LOADS of water in the drum which is handy if you have to get something rinsed really well. Surprisingly enought I don't use the 15 min/60 min quick wash which i thought I would. Thanks for the tip about appliances online.

I have been using the mixed wash with aqua plus but don't get good results. I will try the dark wash and synthetic wash! Do you use the cotton wash for everything, even your woolens and delicate's? Glad I can help.

Mainly so, to be honest don't have any real delicates to wash. If it ain't wash and wear it don't get worn that often :) (that sounds right slattern don't it) so yes to mainly cotton wash, just change the temp accordingly. Then the dark wash for darks and the extra water if needed, as aqua plus on the dark program puts more water in than the aqua plus + any other program. Gotta admit I didn't get the mixed wash program because on the machine it shows a black shirt and a white shirt - does it means we can mix colours? I will check the Manila for what it exactly means (now I am getting rid of it lol)

Think it does mean mixed colours, not that I would trust it not to dye anything! I just used it as it says you can mix different materials too.
