Help! Damp duvet cover left forgotten in tumble drier for 3 weeks

Since the weather warmed up have not been using tumble drier. Mystified by disappearance of best duvet cover - until I found it just now in the tumble drier, still damp. A bit pongy. I reckon it has been there at least 3 weeks, festering.

If I wash it again will it be OK? Presume I should do a hot wash (I'm normally a 30 degrees girl).

Please, someone advise me what to do !!!!

Has it got any mould on it? If so may be beyond redemption. Otherwise I would try washing it at at least 60 and put it straight on the line.

Yes, try a hotter wash. Maybe put some Napisan in (allegedly kills the germs). If it's still whiffy after 1 wash, bin it.

Merguez · 28/04/2013 10:53

No mould luckily.

No Napisan either (dc are now teenagers).

in that case, just wash it at the temperature recommended on the label and get it on the line.

shouldn't need 60 degrees!

what Lottie said.

eek, cross post, actually I would probably just wash it at 30, but immediately, and hang out immediately thereafter.

agree, wash at 60 (or even 90 if pure cotton) with bio detergent and hang out to dry. should be good as new.

Thanks for the advice all.

Washed at 60 with my normal non-bio detergent, let it have good blow on the washing line, and all now seems fine.
