Can I dye iron-marks out of my lovely silk dress?

My favourite turquoise 100% silk dress has pale ironing marks on it (am terrible slattern and thought I'd avoid the dry-cleaning costs...).

Dry cleaners say they can't do anything. But can I try cold dyeing it with Dyelon? Or is it likely the fabric's been properly damaged?

Would appreciate any help - have a wedding next month and can't find anything else I like better....

Ooh, thanks for answering!

Silver coin theory is interesting...will have a go. Marks aren't brown, more a yellowy green. Will order some dye and give it a go. As you say. Have nothing to lose...

For future ref, silk should be damp when you iron it. Just use a water spray (I definitely can't afford the dry cleaners!) for beautiful results.

Hope the coin works, no idea about the dye tho. Sorry.
