MN216 if you fancy a garage project I am all yours. I am in Cambridge.

MN216 · 09/05/2013 17:52

Ooh, haven't done a garage yet. Will PM you for exact location etc

BoffinMum · 09/05/2013 17:54

OK. It's not that far from you. It's got great potential to make a terrific before and after picture!

Sunnywithshowers · 09/05/2013 19:43

MN216 I wish you were nearer to me :)

LemonBreeland · 09/05/2013 20:51

MN216 I wish I didn't live in Scotland right now.

hobnob57 · 09/05/2013 20:55

Me too.

takeaway2 · 09/05/2013 21:40

Is east kent too far from watford??!!

LimeLeaffLizard · 09/05/2013 23:03

oooh MN216 I am within your range. Will have a think. My decluttering needs are more drip drip than a big project though.

Sokmonsta · 10/05/2013 07:47

Morning ladies.

I found a lurker to declutter! Hiding behind my bathroom door is the mn dreaded big vase and twigs! It was lurking in our lounge for several years . We bought a new cabinet so it was hidden from view and then when I started my decluttering, I brought it upstairs to stash in the loft with the other one Well I've been in the loft loads and forgotten to put it up (out if sight out of mind). So it's now making its way back downstairs to go in the car ready to go to storage.

I promise I will do it as I've put it on the landing so I trip over it and swear until I go to the car next.

Today I'm also going to declutter the dc's bath toys into the bin. We've far too many and some of them clearly have mould growing in them Blush any tips on keeping them mould free?

wendybird77 · 10/05/2013 08:30

Seal up the hole in squirty toys to prevent water getting in - no mould! I got rid of most of ours - we have a set of cups and a couple of boats and some bath paint. They don't seem to suffer!

Well done on confronting the vase and twigs. Remind me why you are storing rather than donating? Grin

MinimalistMommi · 10/05/2013 09:46

I got rid of all my bath toys about two years ago, now my DC play with a pot of bubbles and a bubble wand each night which seems to be a never ending source of fun Hmm

MinimalistMommi · 10/05/2013 09:47

Sok don't stash, declutter! It will only be waiting for you to rear it's ugly head again in the future. Are you paying for a storage unit?

MN216 · 10/05/2013 10:21

takeaway2 yes, I'm sorry, East Kent probably is too far away, unless you are near a station and then I might be able to get a train. PM me your location and I will investigate.

Limeleafflizard that's fine, have a think - some clients want several hours hands on help with a single room/project, others want advice on how to go about tackling a drip drip scenario. If you are close by, then a short onsite discussion and then action points would be doable. No pressure obviously, just PM me if you want to discuss further.

BeCool · 10/05/2013 10:28

Sok I'm very curious about your storage unit too. Why not just donate the vase? Is the storage unit a permanent fixture in your lives?

Chaos at mine this morning - I swear some days these 2 small DD's can just trash the place by blinking. I fell asleep on the sofa last night and didn't do usual straighten up before bed, so there were a few bits and bobs from yesterday lurking this morning. It is SOOOOOOOO much better to start the day with a clean slate.

Re bath toys, I too got rid of most of ours. Just kept some newer/nicer ones that fit tidily in small plastic basket. But I'm thinking even more can go - they mostly like to play with a jug or squirty bottles. And I break out the bubbles occasionally too.

educatingarti · 10/05/2013 13:48

IIR Sok has a storage container for a car bootsale she is doing soon - or is that someone else Confused

Sokmonsta · 10/05/2013 14:20

Bath toys binned (while the dc are out). I've kept a set of Thomas toys as they are easy to wash - a bit like cups so no seals and ds1's plane. Only because he was bought it for Christmas and its not mouldy yet. It doesn't help that we have no window in our bathroom and a very poor excuse for an extractor fan.

Sokmonsta · 10/05/2013 15:33

Hmmm. message about storage unit didn't post. Ah well. Anyway, arti is correct. We have a storage unit in conjunction with a friend/business partner. Business pays for it as used for business storage but while im decluttering, I'm organising stuff at the same time to be carbooted. If I don't sell it there, it will go to a local charity shop the very next day.

BeCool · 10/05/2013 16:13

gosh that is nice Sok.
I got frustrated with Ebaying stuff = clutter, but would have loved to sell all my crap at a car boot. I'm quite good at it (or I was years ago) - but I had no where to store stuff. Nice to have that option.

So now I see "vase into storage" in completely different light Grin

Sokmonsta · 10/05/2013 16:24

It is. It makes it so much easier that trying to sort/store at home. I've been able to sort everything out at home then the organised box/bag goes to storage and the day before I just have to go over and load my car up. Good job it's a c4 Picasso really.

In related news. I've actually set a date for car booting. My sister wants to do one as well so we're going to do it at the end of the month when our parents take our eldest girls on holiday. Dh can have our youngest 3 and my sister's ex will be asked to have their youngest.

educatingarti · 10/05/2013 17:08

Having a really difficult day - feeling very low/tired, however you will be pleased to learn that my latest lot of bric-a-crap has made it to the chazzer! It does feel nice to have definitely got rid of it!

educatingarti · 10/05/2013 17:08

I am jealous of doing a car boot sale. I'd love to do one but I have very few weekends free and don't have enough stuff to sell anyhow!

BeCool · 10/05/2013 17:14

hey arti - we all have days like those. Be kind to yourself, and take things easy. The world will seem brighter in the morning!

educatingarti · 10/05/2013 17:47

Thanks BeCool Trouble is I seem to be having weeks like this! I'm just off to have a shower and see if that makes me feel more human!

Sokmonsta · 11/05/2013 07:54

Arti - look after yourself my dear. You've got a lot on your plate at the moment and downtime is needed as much as a clutter free home.

Today I've put the baby bath and seat on freecycle. The rest of the day will be spent refereeing the dc as Dh is at work. I fully intend to spend as much time outside as possible.

MinimalistMommi · 11/05/2013 07:59

I see Sok [ grin] I thought we'd lost you there for a moment Wink
