How do you store hairbands and hair clips?

I have 2 dds and a seemingly ever increasing supply of hairbands and clips. They are currently kept in a little box and tipped out each time I do their hair. I know there must be a better way. How and in what do you store the paraphernalia for your dds' hair? TIA

For hairbands, I use long piece of ribbon. I double it over so that one half is longer than the other. I put two stitches to fix back to back ribbons every inch or two going down length of ribbon. I make the ribbons bunch into a loop between these stitches so that there are loops for each hairband my sewing skills are cruddy, so I use same colour thread as ribbon.
Sounds soooo much more complicated than it is. Happy to email you a photo.

I clip matching hair clips together so that they make a cross. I do this as soon as I take them out. I store them in a little box- they're easier to find as they are more bulky. Random ones are just lobbed in for use if her hair is being particularly mad. Bobbles on hairbrush handle.

A plastic giraffe (possibly from ELC) stood on a shelf in the kitchen and had all the hair bands round its neck.

I have this really useful storage but mine are multicoloured.

Same idea as the carabiner but I had a few of those toy link things lying around from babyhood, works just as well! Clips go in a tin (along with the bobble link and tangle teaser) but am liking the magnetic strip idea!

Shoe box in drawer (in room where hair gets done).

Several strips of cardboard (usually the ones the hair clips came on in the first place with about 10 hair clips on each.

There's school strips, and a 'pretty' ones.

Elastic hairbands also wrap round a bit of cardboard, but I suppose you could use the centre of a loo roll.

Not very pretty but does the job!

In this Really Useful storage set, which I think was about 7quid in Rymans. In reality though there are always a few lurking in my coat pocket and on top of the microwave.

I have this in pink. Coats and dressing gowns on the hooks and hair bands in the basket (though may not work for clips, may fall through the gap!

£3 from Tiger!

LalyRawr · 19/04/2013 20:10

Blah, ignore my link fail.

Basically tis a metal basket with coat hooks underneath. Looks cuter than I describe!

educatingarti · 19/04/2013 20:10

Something like this on back of cupboard door near where hair is done.

Still18atheart · 19/04/2013 20:28

Mug holder stand or paper roll holder for hair ties.

Haven't figured out how to store hair clips yet, so will be watching for ideas

educatingarti · 20/04/2013 12:54

Or - what about something like this hanging on the back of a cupboard door?

educatingarti · 20/04/2013 13:02
