Any ideas how to get melted plastic bag off the hob?

We have an electric hob, not induction. I accidentally melted a plastic bag onto it. Please could you suggest how to get it off, preferably before DH gets home.

Turn the hob on and (carefully) wipe it when it gets soft? But I'm very impractical so that might be a horrendous idea!

Pick off as much as possible then attack the rest with whatever cream cleaner you usually use with a scratch-free sponge. I use a chemical free "natural" cleaner and it has worked for me.

Thanks for the ideas. I scraped it off with a sharp knife (not so sharp now) and will have a go with cream cleaner later.
