Tell me about your washing machine

DD has a vomiting bug. The washing machine has just broken down, with an error message and a very disconcerting stench of smoke. The service centre isn't open till Monday, it could be a week before we get it working again, if we even do.

In the meantime, I'm going to do me some window shopping, just in case.

So tell me about your washing machine - especially if it's brilliant and fantastic and never catches fire...

We have a Hotpoint Aqualtis which takes a 9kg load. We were recommended it by a Hotpoint Engineer, he says as it takes a bigger load, it's mechanical bits are stronger so less likely to break.
We've had it for a year or two -not sure when we got it. We bought it from appliances-online very good service, and quick delivery.
